Filling power

The filling power expresses the strength of the duvet and its insulation ability. The flling power is the value which describes in centi-
metres the ability of exactly 20 g down or feathers to bear a stamp. The stamp is a plate corresponding to the weight of a duvet case with cover.

The measurement takes place in a standar-
dized instrument which we have in our exten-
sive laboratory.

The filling power describes directly how much strength there is in the tested material, and indirectly how much air the material contains – the higher the filling power, the more air there is.
It is the stationary air that insulates and holds on to the heat. 

The most widespread down quilts on the Scandinavian market are filled with down with a filling power capacity of 8-10.
We work with qualities with a filling power of up to 13. Obtaining this demands an optimization with regard to the selection of raw materials, washing and sorting the down.
